-Trinity Sunday-

Jesus came near and spoke to them, “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

The Word of God, who in the beginning illuminated the darkness with light; the Word of God, who created life and established order in the midst of chaos; that Word from the beginning appeared on this earth. And the final words He left us were to testify to the goodness of God among all peoples, nations, and tribes in the name of Jesus, who has received all authority in heaven and on earth; to make disciples of Jesus and build His church; and to establish the kingdom of God.

What does it mean for the kingdom of God to come upon this earth? I believe it may mean revealing God’s goodness like light, and showing salvation in the midst of all the pain, wounds, fear, and despair of our world. Perhaps it begins with treating even one small life, in a small place, with sincerity and care; and with looking upon even those we do not naturally favor with a gentle and warm gaze.

I earnestly pray that, in the church community where we gather, such hearts will be shared among us; that in all we do, we will lift one another up; and that, with hearts of prayer, we will first choose to serve, becoming a people who build up the kingdom of God.

Tomorrow, Teacher Michelle will be sharing the message. Let us encourage her and pray together, so that abundant grace may flow through Teacher Michelle in our worship service.

-성삼위일체 주일-

예수께서 다가와서, 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “나는 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 받았다. 그러므로 너희는 가서, 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아서, 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고, 내가 너희에게 명령한 모든 것을 그들에게 가르쳐 지키게 하여라. 보아라, 내가 세상 끝 날까지 항상 너희와 함께 있을 것이다.” - 마태복음서 28:18-20

태초에 빛으로 어둠을 밝히신 하나님의 말씀, 생명을 창조하시고 혼돈 가운데 질서를 세우신 하나님의 말씀, 그 태초의 말씀이 이 땅에 나타나셔서 마지막으로 남기신 말씀은, 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 받으신 예수님의 이름으로 모든 민족과 나라와 열방 가운데 하나님의 선하심을 증거하고, 예수님의 제자들과 교회를 세우며, 하나님의 나라를 이루라는 것이었습니다.

하나님의 나라가 이 땅에 임한다는 것은 어떤 의미일까요? 그것은 하나님의 선하심을 빛처럼 나타내며, 우리 세상의 모든 아픔과 상처, 두려움과 절망 속에 구원을 나타내 보이는 것이 아닐까 생각합니다. 또한 작은 곳에서 작은 생명 하나를 정성과 진실로 대하는 것, 마음에 들지 않는 사람도 부드럽고 따뜻한 시선으로 바라보는 것에서 시작되는 것이 아닐까 생각합니다.

그렇게 우리가 모인 교회 공동체 안에서 이러한 마음들이 함께 나누어지고, 무엇을 하든지 서로를 일으켜 세워 주며, 기도하는 마음으로 먼저 섬기는 자세를 가지고 하나님의 나라를 이루어 가는 우리가 되기를 간절히 기도합니다.

내일은 미셀 선생님께서 말씀을 전해 주십니다. 미셀 선생님을 통해 예배 가운데 많은 은혜가 흐를 수 있도록 함께 응원하고 기도합니다.
