-6th Sunday of Easter-

“Misunderstood: The Bronze Serpent” - Numbers 21:4-9

This Sunday, we will explore a fascinating and somewhat strange story from the wilderness - the story of the bronze serpent story in the book of Numbers. When we are struggling or in pain, our first instinct is often to pray for a quick fix and ask God to simply take the obstacle away. But in this narrative, God does something very unexpected. God asks the people to look directly at the very symbol of a snake that is destroying them. 

Why would God instruct Moses to make an image of a creature when God had already forbidden the worship of creaturely idols? 

Together, we will meditate on what it means to stop running from our brokenness and how to confront our own brokenness. Most importantly, we will see how looking to Jesus on the cross provides the ultimate healing for our wounds.

-부활절 여섯째 주일/어머니(부모님)주일-

“오해: 놋뱀” - 민수기 21:4-9

이번 주일은 민수기에 나오는 흥미롭고 독특한 놋뱀이야기를 함께 나누어보려고 합니다. 우리가 힘들거나 고통스러운 일을 당할때, 가장 먼저 하는 생각은 “하나님, 이 문제를 빨리 없애 주세요”라고 기도하는 것일 것 같습니다. 그런데 이 민수기 이야기에서 하나님은 예상을 완전 뒤집는 일을 하십니다. 불뱀에 물려 죽어가는 백성들에게 자신들을 죽게 하고 있는 그 뱀의 형상을 똑바로 보라고 하신 것입니다.

하나님은 우상 숭배를 금지하셨는데, 왜 모세에게 피조물의 형상을 만들어 그것을 바라보라고 하셨을까요?

우리는 우리 자신의 상처와 부족함으로부터 도망치는 것을 멈추고, 그것을 있는 그대로 마주하는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지 함께 생각해 볼것입니다. 그리고 무엇보다, 십자가에 달리신 예수님을 바라보는 것이 어떻게 우리의 가장 깊은 상처를 치유하는지를 알아보려고 합니다.

위를 바라보는 시선이 우리를 치유하고 변화 시키는 힘입니다. 이 흥미로운 이야기를 통해 우리 유스들이 자신들의 마음에 있을수 있는 독을 해독하는 방법을 알수 있기를 기도합니다. 함께 예배하며 새로운 자녀세대 세워 나가길 바라겠습니다.
