-2nd Sunday in Lent-

“Misunderstood: Restoring Imago Dei” - Genesis 1:27 // Matthew 17:1-9

It is easy to be misunderstood in this world. We are often labeled by our race, language, gender, age, or social status. Sometimes these labels feel burdensome. Sometimes they make us question our self worth.

But from the very beginning, the Bible tells us a different story. “God created humanity in God’s own image.” Before any cultural voice tried to define us, God declared that we are beloved and dignified. We are made in the Image of God.

In the story of the Transfiguration, Jesus shines with divine glory. It reminds us of what humanity was always meant to reflect. In Jesus, the Image of God is not erased by human prejudices or brokenness. In Jesus, the Image of God is restored.

Please join this Sunday as we reflect on how Jesus invites us beyond the voices of this world to listen to Him. Let us hear who we meant to be. We are created by Love. We are seen by Love. And We are called to love.

2026년 3월 1일 안내문

-사순절 둘째 주일-

“오해: 하나님의 형상 회복하기” - 창세기 1:27 // 마태복음 17:19

미국에서 살다가보면 동양인으로써 오해를 받을때가 많습니다. 우리는 인종, 언어, 성별, 나이, 혹은 사회적 지위로 규정되고 차별도 받기도 합니다. 때로는 그런 편견들이 무겁게 느껴지고, 때로는 우리의 자존감에 상처를 내곤 합니다.

그러나 성경은 처음부터 전혀 다른 이야기를 전해주고 있습니다. “하나님이 당신의 형상대로 사람을 창조하셨으니.” 어떤 문화적 목소리가 우리의 존재를 정의하기 전에 하나님은 우리를 사랑받는 존재, 생명있는, 하나님을 닮은 존귀한 존재라고 선포하셨습니다.

변화선 사건 속에서 예수님은 하나님의 영광으로 바뀌셨습니다. 그 모습은 인간이 본래 나타내야 했던 하나님의 영광스러운 모습이였습니다. 하지만 인간의 죄로 인해 그 영광은 사라져 버렸습니다. 하지만 예수님 안에서 그 하나님의 형상은 회복 될수 있습니다. 예수님안에 회복된 하나님의 형상은 그 어떤 인간의 편견이나 상처로 지워질수 없습니다.

우리 유스들이 그런 하나님의 형상을 회복했으면 좋겠습니다. 예수님을 사랑해서 예수님의 모습을 닮아가는 자녀들이 되어 이세상에 어떤 소음이 그들을 공격하더라도 보호되기를 기도합니다. 그렇게 기도하며 예배하는 귀한 주일이 되기를 바라겠습니다.
